Sweet and Festive Gingerbread GarlandThe little cookie cutouts can be crafted from cardstock, felt, or even lightweight wood, so you can choose what works best for you.

Kids will especially love decorating each piece with white paint pens or puff paint to mimic icing.

Once strung together, the gingerbread friends bring warmth and fun into any room.

Materials Needed

  • Brown kraft cardstock or felt sheets (9”×12”) – 4-5 sheets
  • Gingerbread man template or cookie cutter (about 5” tall)
  • White paint pen or puff paint (for icing details)
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Jute twine or red/white baker’s twine (6-8 ft long)
  • Optional: mini bows or buttons for extra detail

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Trace and cut out 10-12 gingerbread men from kraft cardstock or felt using a template.

Step 2: Decorate each gingerbread cutout with icing details such as eyes, smiles, and buttons using white paint pens or puff paint.

Step 3: Once dry, punch a hole at the top of each figure’s head or hands for threading.

Step 4: String the gingerbread men evenly along twine, spacing them about 4” apart.

Step 5: Hang the garland above a window, on a mantel, or even across a kitchen island for a delightful holiday touch.

Notes:

If you want a more durable version, use thin wood cutouts or pre-made craft shapes. They can be reused for years!
