What about bringing a smile to everyone’s face with this handmade Santa garland?
The mix of bright red hats, rosy noses, and printed-text beards creates a whimsical look that feels playful yet classic.
It’s an easy project for adding personality to your décor, and you can customize it with ribbons, glitter, or even a touch of faux snow for extra sparkle.
Materials Needed
- Cardstock or chipboard squares (5”×7”), 4-6 pieces
- Old book pages or printed vintage-style paper
- Acrylic paint in red, pink, and white
- Ribbon or jute twine – 5-6 ft
- Glue stick or Mod Podge
- Scissors
- Optional: glitter, cotton balls
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Cut cardstock into banner-style panels (5”×7” with a scalloped or V-cut bottom).
Step 2: Glue vintage book pages on each panel for the background and trim to size.
Step 3: Paint Santa faces with red hats, pink noses, white beards, directly on the panels. Then add rosy cheeks for charm.
Step 4: Once dry, punch two holes at the top of each panel.
Step 5: String ribbon or twine through the holes, spacing panels evenly.
Step 6: Tie extra bows or ribbons between panels for a layered, festive look.
Notes:
For a cozier look, you can use brown kraft paper instead of white cardstock and add a little shading with brown chalk or ink around the edges.
