Guide to Making Adorable Pom-Pom Owls That Kids Will Love
These pom-pom owls are more than just a craft, they’re a chance to create something sweet and memorable with your little ones.

I remember sitting with my niece as we picked out pom-poms for her owl’s belly.

She decided each color represented a different “feeling,” so her owl became a rainbow of happiness, bravery, and kindness.

That’s the beauty of this project: it sparks creativity and storytelling while producing something so charming you’ll want to keep it forever.

They’re simple, heartfelt, and a reminder that sometimes the best crafts are the ones that let imagination fly.

Materials Needed

  • Brown cardstock or cardboard (cut into owl shapes, approx. 6-8” tall)
  • Pom-poms (assorted sizes and colors, about 20 per owl)
  • Googly eyes (2 per owl, 2” diameter looks bold and fun)
  • Craft glue or hot glue (if working without kids)
  • Scissors and markers

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Draw and cut out owl shapes on brown cardstock or cardboard. Then add simple wings and ear tufts for character.

Step 2: Glue large googly eyes near the top, then draw or cut a small triangle for the beak.

Step 3: Spread glue over the belly area of the owl and start pressing colorful pom-poms in place. Fill in tightly so the belly looks full and fluffy.

Step 4: Let your owl dry flat until the pom-poms are secure. You can then display it as wall art, or punch a hole at the top to hang as a cute decoration.

Step 5: For extra fun, make a whole family of owls, each with different color personalities such as rainbow owls, nighttime owls, or even sparkly glitter owls.

Tips:

If you’re doing this with kids, pre-cut the owl shapes ahead of time.

For a fall twist, stick to autumn tones like orange, red, and brown pom-poms. For a playful twist, let kids add wings made from craft foam or felt scraps.
