This project is a reminder that nothing goes to waste when you craft with heart.
By saving your wine corks, you can create ornaments that feel earthy, warm, and personal.
Specially, the natural cork texture pairs beautifully with burlap, twine, or greenery.
Whether you paint some corks green for a classic look or leave them raw for a rustic style, each ornament carries a unique story, just like the bottles they came from.
Materials Needed
- 7 wine corks per ornament (standard size 1.75” length × 0.9” diameter)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Twine or jute rope (12” length per ornament for hanging loop)
- Mini ribbons, faux holly, pinecones, or small red berries
- Green acrylic paint (optional, for painting some corks)
- Scissors
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Select 7 corks for each ornament.
Next, arrange them in a triangle shape including 3 corks on the bottom, 2 in the middle, 1 on top, and 1 horizontally at the base for the “trunk.”
Step 2: Use hot glue to secure the corks together, starting with the bottom row and building upward.
Step 3: Cut a piece of twine about 12” long, shape it into a loop, and glue it to the back of the tree for hanging.
Step 4: Decorate your tree with ribbons, greenery, or paint. If desired, paint a few corks green for a more traditional tree look.
Step 5: Let everything dry completely before hanging on your Christmas tree or wrapping as a gift.
Tips:
If you’re making multiple ornaments, set up a little assembly line to glue corks and add decorations, it makes the process faster and keeps things neat.
