Who would’ve thought that simple plastic flower pots could become charming Christmas bells?
A little paint, a ribbon or two, and suddenly you have statement-making ornaments that look expensive but are secretly budget-friendly.
They’re bold, festive, and perfect for anyone who loves rustic farmhouse décor with a clever twist.
Materials Needed
- 3 large plastic flower pots (8-10” diameter, inverted)
- Metallic spray paint (silver, gold, or bronze)
- 3 medium-sized craft bells (about 2-3” wide)
- Buffalo plaid ribbon (2” wide, about 2 yards)
- Faux evergreen sprigs
- Hot glue gun + glue sticks
- Sturdy twine or rope
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Spray paint the flower pots in your chosen metallic color. Let them dry completely so they resemble shining bell domes.
Step 2: Thread twine through each pot’s drainage hole and tie it securely to a large craft bell so it dangles just below the rim like a real clapper.
Step 3: Tie buffalo plaid ribbons into bows and glue them onto the tops of the pots. Then allow the long tails to hang for a classic farmhouse look.
Step 4: Gather the three bells together by their twine loops and secure them in a cluster.
Next, add faux greenery and smaller ribbon ties around the grouping for a fuller finish.
Step 5: Hang the oversized bells by your door, on a porch hook, or even indoors on a large wall hook.
Note:
When I made these, I added a light mist of glitter spray over the painted bells, it gave them just the right sparkle under twinkling Christmas lights.
