I love these little pom-pom cacti because they feel like gifts of joy.
They’re small, simple, and so full of character that I couldn’t help but keep a few on my windowsill after making them.
My favorite part is choosing the pom-pom shades, sometimes soft greens, sometimes bold and topping them with a bright pink bloom that makes the cactus look alive in the sweetest way.
Add a pair of googly eyes, and suddenly you’ve created a companion that’s equal parts silly and endearing.
These are the kinds of crafts that remind you creativity doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful.
Materials Needed
- Mini terracotta pots (2-3” tall, one per cactus)
- Green yarn
- Pink yarn
- 2 googly eyes per cactus
- Hot glue gun or strong craft glue
- Scissors
- Optional: twine
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Make green pom-poms using your yarn. Keep them small enough to fit snugly inside your terracotta pots.
Step 2: Make smaller pink pom-poms and glue one or two on top of the green ones to act as flowers.
Step 3: Attach googly eyes to the green pom-poms to give your cactus a fun personality.
Step 4: Place the completed pom-poms inside each terracotta pot. Then add a dab of glue inside the pot if you want them to stay in place permanently.
Step 5: If you’d like to turn them into ornaments, glue a small loop of twine to the top before attaching the flowers.
Tips:
These make adorable DIY gifts. Wrap them in little cellophane bags or line them up as table decorations for a party, they’ll always get people talking.
