Imagine walking up to your home and being greeted by giant striped candles glowing as if they were lit by Santa’s elves.
These larger-than-life decorations feel whimsical yet cozy, like a Christmas card scene brought to life.
Their candy cane stripes remind everyone of sweet holiday treats, while the glowing tops cast a warm, welcoming light.
Plus, they’re the kind of décor that neighbors admire and kids will never forget, transforming your yard into a storybook setting for the season.
Materials Needed
- 6-8 PVC pipes or heavy cardboard tubes (different heights, 3-6 ft tall, 6-8” diameter)
- Red and white spray paint (outdoor safe)
- Plastic red globe light covers (large enough to sit on top)
- Battery-operated LED puck lights or solar lights
- Expanding foam or hot glue
- Painter’s tape
- Outdoor adhesive or screws
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Cut your PVC pipes to varying heights for a more dynamic display. Then sand edges smooth.
Step 2: Use painter’s tape to mark stripes around each pipe, then spray paint alternating red and white. Let them dry completely.
Step 3: Create a wax-drip effect by applying expanding foam or thick hot glue around the rim of each pipe. Once dry, paint over with white for a realistic melted wax look.
Step 4: Place LED puck or solar lights inside each pipe, then top with a red globe cover to mimic a glowing flame.
Step 5: Arrange your giant candles in clusters near walkways, the front porch, or even in flower beds.
Finally, secure bases with outdoor adhesive or stakes if needed to keep them upright.
