If you love simple holiday decorations that still feel special, these yarn trees are a wonderful project.
With just white yarn, a few cones, and natural trimmings, you’ll craft snowy little sculptures that fit perfectly into rustic, farmhouse, or even modern spaces.
They’re quick to make but look like something you’d buy in a boutique shop, especially when displayed in a trio on a wooden base.
Materials Needed
- 3 foam cones (heights: 10″, 12″, and 14″)
- 1 skein of thick white yarn (approx. 100 yards)
- Wooden base (12″ × 6″)
- 3 wooden dowels (12″, 10″, and 8″ lengths, ½” diameter)
- Hot glue gun with glue sticks
- Mini pinecones (6-8 pieces)
- Artificial greenery sprigs (about 12″)
- Small red faux berries (6-8 pieces)
- Decorative stars or gold accents (optional)
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Attach each foam cone to a wooden dowel using hot glue, then secure the dowels into the wooden base.
Step 2: Starting from the bottom, wrap the white yarn around each cone, crisscrossing for a layered effect. Then glue ends in place.
Step 3: Add greenery, pinecones, and faux berries near the base of each tree for a natural touch.
Step 4: Place decorative stars or small accents to finish the look.
Step 5: Display your trio together as a centerpiece or spread them across your home for a snowy, handmade charm.
Tip:
For a frosted look, lightly brush the yarn with white glitter glue or spray-on snow before adding greenery.
