Picture walking into a holiday wonderland where the air smells of peppermint, and oversized candies dangle across the room.
Striped fabric transforms into sweet treats that never melt or get sticky, capturing the fun of Christmas candy in a crafty, sustainable way.
It’s cheerful, nostalgic, and guaranteed to spark smiles whenever someone walks past.
Materials Needed
- Red and white striped fabric (1 yard, cotton or linen works best)
- Cardboard circles (8-10 pieces, 4”-5” diameter each)
- Twine or jute string (6-7 ft long)
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun + glue sticks
- Small rubber bands or thin twine for tying candy ends
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Cut your cardboard into circles (4–5 inches in diameter). These will form the candy centers.
Step 2: Cut fabric squares about 9”×9” each, big enough to wrap around the circles with room to tie at the sides.
Step 3: Place a cardboard circle in the center of each fabric piece. Then wrap the fabric around it and twist the sides to mimic candy ends.
Step 4: Secure each twisted end with a small piece of twine or a rubber band. Then trim the tails neatly.
Step 5: Use hot glue to attach each candy to a long jute string, spacing them 4-5 inches apart.
Step 6: Hang your garland along a banister, shelf, or wall for a festive candy-shop look.
Notes:
You can swap striped fabric for polka dots, metallics, or even solid bold colors to make different flavors of candy.
