How to Make a Snowy Evergreen Planter That Glows with Winter CharmImagine stepping onto your porch and being greeted by a mini winter woodland.

This is where icy branches reach upward like frozen sculptures and fresh greens tumble over the edge like a soft blanket of nature.

The snow-dusted details make it look as though it’s been standing outside through the first snowfall of December.

Materials Needed

  • 1 large outdoor planter (14-18” wide, black or neutral tone works best)
  • 3-4 frosted or white-painted branches (around 24-30” tall)
  • Fresh evergreen cuttings (cedar, pine, or spruce, 12-15 stems)
  • Artificial or fresh red berry stems (6-8 sprigs)
  • Potting soil or floral foam
  • Optional: faux snow spray

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Fill your planter with soil or floral foam, leaving enough depth to secure branches and stems.

Step 2: Place the frosted branches at the center or slightly to the back. These create the vertical focal point and add that snowy forest touch.

Step 3: Surround the base with evergreen stems, angling them outward so they spill gracefully over the edges of the planter.

You can also mix textures such as pine needles, cedar fronds, and spruce for depth.

Step 4: Tuck in berry stems around the greens. Then place them off-center for a natural look, as if berries are peeking through the foliage.

Step 5: Lightly mist the evergreens with faux snow spray if you want the frosted look to last beyond a natural snowfall.

Note:

If using real snow, simply let nature do the work, the fresh dusting will melt and refreeze, giving your planter a charmingly authentic winter glow.
