How to Make a Rustic Hanging Hoop with Bells and GreeneryImagine opening the door and being greeted by the soft jingle of bells, their rusty finish glinting against fresh evergreen sprigs.

This hoop feels like something passed down from another time with simple, weathered, and full of soul.

The cascading greenery softens the rough grapevine frame, while the bells add both sound and spirit.

It’s the kind of decoration that makes you think of horse-drawn sleighs and candlelit evenings, bringing a rustic heartbeat to your Christmas display.

Materials Needed

  • 1 grapevine or twig wreath hoop (14”-16” diameter)
  • Fresh or faux evergreen branches (5-6 sprigs, 10”-12” long)
  • 12-15 rustic metal jingle bells (1.5”-2” diameter)
  • Faux red berry picks (3-4 stems)
  • Floral wire and hot glue gun
  • Wire cutters and scissors
  • Sturdy twine or ribbon (2-3 ft)

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Begin with your grapevine hoop. Its natural, twisted look is part of the charm, so don’t worry about keeping it perfectly round.

Step 2: Layer your evergreen sprigs along the bottom half of the hoop.

Let them cascade downward for a relaxed, rustic look. Then secure them in place with floral wire.

Step 3: Add in berry clusters, tucking them between the greenery for pops of color. They’ll instantly brighten the arrangement and make it more festive.

Step 4: Tie your jingle bells onto lengths of twine or wire.

You should vary the lengths so they hang at different heights, then attach them securely to the wreath base.

Step 5: Continue adding bells until the bottom is full and balanced.

Next, allow some to swing freely to create that cheerful jingling sound when moved.

Step 6: Finish by tying a loop of sturdy twine at the top for hanging.

You can also adjust the greenery and bells until the arrangement feels full and natural.

Tip:

For a more authentic, vintage feel, lightly brush the bells with white craft paint to mimic a frosted, snow-dusted finish.
