How to Make a Romantic Lace Bookmark with Vintage Charm
This lace bookmark is as functional as it is beautiful.

The wide lace strap holds firmly between your pages, while the dangling cameo and charms add a stylish, antique-inspired detail.

Unlike paper bookmarks that can slip or bend, the lace lies flat and secure.

Plus, the charm embellishments give you a personal touch so you can choose a cameo, vintage key, or even beads that mean something special to you.

It’s an easy project with a big payoff, turning scraps of lace and a few jewelry findings into a bookmark that feels like a cherished heirloom.

Materials Needed

  • Lace ribbon (1 piece, 10” long × 1.5” wide)
  • Ribbon clamps (2 pieces, 1.5” width)
  • Jump rings (6-8 pieces, 8 mm)
  • Charms (1 cameo pendant, 1 key charm, optional beads)
  • Chain links (4” long, adjustable)
  • Flat-nose pliers
  • Scissors

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Cut your lace ribbon to about 10”. This length fits most standard books without dangling too far.

Step 2: Attach ribbon clamps to both ends of the lace using flat-nose pliers. Press firmly so the lace stays secure.

Step 3: Open a jump ring and attach it to one clamp end. Then add your chosen charm (cameo, bead, or key) before closing the ring tightly.

Step 4: Repeat on the opposite end, attaching a complementary charm or pendant. Adding asymmetry gives it more vintage charm.

Step 5: Test the bookmark by laying it flat in a book, the lace should rest neatly inside while the charms hang just outside the edges.

Step 6: Adjust chain length or add extra beads if you want more decorative detail.

Tips:

If you can’t find lace wide enough, layer two narrower pieces together for added texture.

Using contrasting charms (like a cameo on one end and a key on the other) creates balance and tells a little story.
