When everyone else shows up as a vampire or a witch, you’ll be the one who makes the whole room laugh out loud.
The costume plays on everyday silliness, turning a simple bin into a bathroom stall.
Besides, add some fake legs and a bit of attitude, and suddenly you’ve got a costume that’s cheap, clever, and comedy gold.
It’s proof that you don’t need much money to create a costume that totally steals the spotlight.
Materials Needed
- 1 large plastic bin (30-35 gallon, white or blue works best)
- 1 toilet paper roll with holder (can be real or made from cardboard + dowel, about 10” long)
- 1 pair of old pants (child-size, 18-20” length)
- 1 pair of fake shoes or slippers (small, 67” long, lightweight)
- 1 hot glue gun + 8-10 glue sticks
- 1 black marker or paint
- 1 lightweight harness or backpack straps to secure bin (optional)
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Cut out the bottom of the bin so the child can step inside comfortably. Then smooth edges with duct tape for safety.
Step 2: Create the “seat” by cutting a round opening on the front side. You can outline it with black paint or marker to mimic a toilet seat.
Step 3: Attach the pants around the seat opening, stuffing them with fabric or paper to make them look like real legs.
Step 4: Glue fake shoes or slippers to the ends of the pants so it looks like someone is sitting on the toilet.
Step 5: Add a toilet paper roll on the side using a dowel or holder glued inside.
Step 6: Let your child hop in, make a funny face, and strut around as the silliest costume at the party.
Trick: Use lightweight materials only, cardboard for the legs and soft slippers so it’s comfortable to wear.
