How to Decorate a Small Christmas Tree with Dried OrangesThe dried orange slices glisten like golden suns, while the gingerbread houses and cookies dangle like treasures from a winter fairytale.

Each ornament feels homemade, charming, and full of heart.

Set in a woven basket, the tree becomes a rustic focal point that makes your space smell of citrus and spice.

It’s the kind of decoration that invites you to slow down, smile, and savor the season.

Materials Needed

  • 1 small tabletop Christmas tree (real or faux, 2-3 feet tall)
  • 10-12 dried orange slices (2-3 inches wide)
  • 5-6 gingerbread cookie ornaments (store-bought or homemade, sealed for longevity)
  • Red or white ribbon (¼ inch wide, 12-14 inches per ornament)
  • Mini string lights (battery-operated, optional)
  • Woven basket or decorative base
  • Optional: faux snow spray or tiny white bead garland

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Place your small Christmas tree into a woven basket or decorative pot for a rustic look. Then adjust it so it stands firm.

Step 2: Cut lengths of ribbon and thread them through the dried orange slices. You can tie small knots or bows to create easy hanging loops.

Step 3: Do the same with gingerbread ornaments, making sure they’re sealed or varnished if you want them to last the whole season.

Step 4: Hang dried oranges evenly across the branches, spacing them so the tree glows naturally.

Step 5: Add gingerbread shapes and balance them with oranges for a playful mix. Also, use smaller slices near the top and larger ones lower down.

Step 6: (Optional) Weave in a mini string of warm white lights or a bead garland to add sparkle.

Step 7: Step back and admire your festive corner, your little tree now feels like a holiday scene from a storybook kitchen.

Tips:

If you plan to keep this tree near a window, hang your oranges where the light can shine through. They’ll glow beautifully like stained glass.
