There’s something dreamlike about these bending trees. Their tall trunks, topped with cascading greenery and sparkling ornaments, feel almost enchanted.
Placed in wooden planters and surrounded by glimmering baubles, these planters create a fairytale entrance that glows with festive wonder.
Materials Needed
- 1-2 rectangular wooden planters (24”-30” length)
- 3 sturdy branches or slim tree trunks (4-5 ft tall)
- Fresh evergreen boughs (cedar, spruce, or pine)
- Floral wire and zip ties
- Gold and green ornaments (15-20 assorted sizes)
- White spray paint or faux frosted branches
- Floral foam or soil
- Pruners and wire cutters
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Fill the base of your planter with floral foam or tightly packed soil to give the branches stability.
Next, insert the three main branches, spacing them slightly apart, and press them deep so they stand upright without wobbling.
Step 2: Begin attaching evergreen boughs to each branch, starting from the bottom and working upward.
Also, use floral wire or zip ties to secure them tightly, layering until the trees have a full, lush appearance.
Step 3: Once the shape is filled in, gently bend the top of each branch to create that whimsical drooping effect.
Plus, you can secure the bend with wire so it holds its curve.
Step 4: Spray or attach white frosted branches at the tops to give a snowy, storybook finish. Allow them to drape down naturally over the greenery.
Step 5: Decorate with small ornaments tucked into the greenery.
Next, place the larger gold and green baubles at the base of the planter for balance and added sparkle.
Step 6: Step back and adjust the branches and ornaments until the arrangement feels balanced and magical.
Optionally, adding pinecones or fairy lights at the base can give it even more charm.
Note:
For outdoor use, make sure the planters are heavy enough or add stones at the bottom to prevent them from tipping over in the wind.
