How to Craft Rustic Easter Egg Hangers with BeansImagine swapping shiny plastic eggs for handmade mosaics that feel warm and real.

Using nothing more than beans, lentils, and glue, you can design Easter egg ornaments that last year after year.

Each bean adds a tactile charm, and no two designs look alike.

Tie them with yarn or ribbon, and suddenly you have Easter decor with character.

Materials Needed

  • Cardboard sheet (cut into egg shapes, about 4”-6” tall)
  • 1/2 cup white beans (large size, about 1 cm)
  • 1/2 cup kidney beans (red)
  • 1/4 cup pinto beans
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup orange lentils
  • Craft glue or white school glue (120 ml bottle)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil (for tracing egg shapes)
  • Yarn or ribbon (12” lengths per egg)

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Draw and cut out egg shapes from cardboard. Keep them sturdy enough to hold beans without bending.

Step 2: Plan your design by sketching simple rows, zigzags, or geometric shapes on each egg.

Step 3: Apply glue in sections. Press beans or lentils onto the glue, following your sketched pattern. Start from the outline, then fill in the center for neat edges.

Step 4: Once your beans are set, punch a small hole at the top of each egg. Then thread yarn or ribbon through for hanging.

Step 5: Let the ornaments dry overnight to ensure beans stay firmly attached.

Tips:

If you want a glossy finish, brush a coat of Mod Podge over the beans after drying. It not only seals the beans but also makes colors pop beautifully.
