How to Craft Comic Book Flowers That Never Fade

There’s something beautiful about turning old comics into flowers. It’s like giving paper a second bloom.

Instead of fading away in a drawer, those panels are transformed into petals that stand tall, bright, and full of life.

Each page folds into a new curve, carrying stories of heroes and adventures while adding a playful charm to your space.

Materials Needed

  • 8-10 comic book pages per flower (standard 8.5”×11” pages work perfectly)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil for tracing petal shapes
  • Petal template (about 2”-3” across, in teardrop or heart shape)
  • Hot glue gun with glue sticks
  • Floral wire (12” pieces, one per flower)
  • Floral tape (green, ½” wide)
  • Optional: Green construction paper (about 3” long each)

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Select bright, bold comic pages. Panels with big speech bubbles or dramatic colors make petals pop. Then trace and cut about 8-10 petals for each flower.

Step 2: Slightly curl the edges of each petal by rolling them around a pencil. This gives the paper a more natural, flower-like look.

Step 3: Take your floral wire and glue the first petal tightly around the top, forming a bud. Hold it in place until secure.

Step 4: Continue adding petals, overlapping slightly and gluing as you go. Keep the smaller petals inside and larger ones outside, just like in nature.

Step 5: Wrap the base of the flower with floral tape to cover the glue and attach it firmly to the wire stem.

You can add leaves if you’d like, cutting them from green paper and taping them to the stem.

Step 6: Arrange your flowers in a vase or tie them with ribbon for a bouquet.

Now step back and admire, these blossoms won’t wilt, and they’ll keep their vibrant energy year after year.

Tips:

When I made mine, I realized mixing pages from different comics gave each flower a unique personality including one petal bursting with bright reds, another with moody blues

And if you’re gifting them, tuck one into a book or wrap a bunch with kraft paper for a handmade surprise that feels unforgettable.
