Handwoven Yarn Bookmarks for Colorful Reading

If you love books as much as crafts, this woven yarn bookmark is a perfect little project to enjoy.

The textured burlap gives a rustic charm, while the pastel yarn colors add a playful touch.

It’s also a wonderful activity for kids, they’ll be thrilled to see their patterns come to life stitch by stitch.

This is a thoughtful handmade gift making reading feel even more personal.

Materials Needed

  • Burlap fabric strips (approx. 2” × 5”)
  • Colored cardstock for the backing
  • Assorted yarn or embroidery thread
  • Blunt needle and glue
  • Hole punch and yarn for tassel

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Cut a rectangle of burlap and weave colored yarn through it using simple lines or patterns.

Step 2: Glue your finished weaving onto a cardstock base for durability and contrast.

Step 3: Punch a hole at the top and add a braided or twisted yarn tassel.

Step 4: Trim any loose ends neatly, and you’ve got a sweet handmade bookmark that brightens every read.
