Why not turn yarn scraps into the sweetest holiday garland?
Each tiny tree looks like a miniature Christmas fir, dressed up with white pom-poms that resemble snowflakes.
The wooden stars and beads add farmhouse charm, making this garland perfect for mantels, staircases, or even the kids’ room.
Plus, you can make as many trees as you want, long garlands for a big statement or short strings to decorate gifts.
Materials Needed
- Green yarn (about 30 ft total, 4 mm thickness)
- Twine or jute cord (5-6 ft)
- Mini white pom-poms (0.3-0.5 inch, 20-25 pieces)
- Wooden beads (1 inch, 6–8 pieces)
- Wooden star cutouts (1.5 inch, 6-8 pieces)
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun or craft glue
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Wrap green yarn around your fingers or a 3-inch piece of cardboard about 20-25 times.
Next, carefully slide it off and tie one end tightly to form the top of the tree.
Step 2: Cut the bottom loops of yarn to create fringe. Then trim into a triangular tree shape with sharp scissors.
Step 3: Glue a wooden star at the top of each tree and add small white pom-poms as snow.
Step 4: String the trees onto a long twine cord, alternating with wooden beads to keep spacing neat and balanced.
Step 5: Adjust spacing, then hang across your mantel, window, or shelf.
Tips:
For a fuller look, use bulkier yarn or double the wraps before trimming.
If you’d like a playful version, swap white pom-poms for multicolored beads to mimic ornaments.
