DIY Plastic Drawer Dresser That Makes Everything Visible and AccessibleInstead of rummaging through piles, these clear drawers let you read your storage like a storybook, each bin holding its own chapter.

A drawer of fabrics whispers creativity, another of holiday lights waits for December, and yet another guards your collection of small tools.

Specially, the wooden frame becomes a bookshelf of hidden lives, and the bins, like windows, invite you to peek in.

Materials Needed

  • 10-12 clear plastic bins with lids (approx. 14″ × 10″ × 6″ each)
  • ¾″ plywood sheets (cut for side panels, base, and dividers)
  • Wood screws (1 ½″ to 2″ size)
  • Wooden strips or dowels
  • Drill and screwdriver
  • Measuring tape and carpenter’s square
  • Sandpaper (medium grit)
  • Optional: paint or stain

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Measure your bins to determine how wide and tall your frame should be. Be sure to leave just enough clearance for smooth sliding.

Step 2: Cut plywood for the side panels, base, and optional back. Then sand the edges to keep everything splinter-free.

Step 3: Mark where each bin will sit, then attach wooden strips or dowels inside the frame to act as drawer slides. You should keep them level so the bins move evenly.

Step 4: Assemble the frame by securing the sides, top, and bottom with screws. Double-check with a carpenter’s square to keep it aligned.

Step 5: Test-fit each bin in its slot. You can also adjust the slides if needed so they glide in and out without wobbling.

Step 6: Finish the frame with a coat of paint, stain, or leave it natural for a raw, workshop-ready look. Fill your bins and enjoy the order you’ve created.

Tips:

I’ve found that clear bins encourage you to stay organized because you can’t ignore the mess inside.

Labeling them adds an extra layer of clarity, especially for shared spaces like garages or playrooms.
