A Handmade Advent Dresser That Brings the Season to Life

A Handmade Advent Dresser That Brings the Season to LifeWow, this dresser feels like something out of a Christmas storybook. Each drawer is its own little door, waiting to be opened, decorated with holly leaves, birds, or vintage florals.

Some hold sweets, some hold trinkets, and some hold nothing more than a folded piece of paper with kind words scribbled on it.

The excitement builds day by day until suddenly you’re at Christmas Eve and every drawer has had its moment.

It’s not just a craft project, it’s a memory maker, the kind of piece that grows more meaningful each holiday season.

Materials Needed

  • A small wooden mini-dresser or drawer cabinet (with at least 24 drawers)
  • Scrapbook paper or holiday-themed napkins
  • Mod Podge or craft glue
  • Acrylic paint in festive tones
  • Stamps, stencils, or number stickers
  • Tiny treats, notes, or trinkets

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Give the dresser a quick sanding, then paint the frame in a holiday color you love like cream, gold, or even a rich green works beautifully.

Step 2: Cut pieces of scrapbook paper to fit the drawer fronts. Don’t worry about matching them all, mixing patterns gives it more personality.

Step 3: Glue the papers on with Mod Podge, smoothing them out carefully. Then add another coat of glue over the top to seal them.

Step 4: Add numbers from 1 to 24 (or 25 if you like). Stickers make it easy, but stenciling adds a handmade touch.

Step 5: Fill the drawers with surprises. Sweets are always fun, but slips of paper with kind words or mini activities (“make hot cocoa tonight”) make it feel even more personal.

Tips:

When I tried this, I discovered that the simplest surprises brought the biggest smiles.

One drawer had a tiny ornament, another had a silly Christmas joke, and another just had a note that said “movie night.”
