  • 1 wooden pallet (or cut to approx. 24″ W x 28″ H)
  • 4 horizontal wood slats (pallet planks)
  • 12 black metal hooks (1–1.5″ size)
  • White acrylic paint or stencil letters for “COFFEE” (optional)
  • Sandpaper (120–150 grit)
  • Screws or nails
  • Wood glue (optional)
  • Wall-mounting hardware

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Smooth out any splinters while keeping its rustic character. If the pallet is large, cut it down to size or remove boards to space the slats out evenly.

Step 2: Attach the horizontal slats evenly across the pallet frame (you’ll want a few inches of space between each to fit your mugs). Screw or nail them securely in place.

Step 3: Evenly space and screw in your hooks – 3 per slat works nicely. Make sure they’re angled slightly up to hold mugs securely.

Step 4: Optional: Paint or stencil the word “COFFEE” across the top board to give it café vibes. Let dry fully.

Step 5: Attach heavy-duty hanging hardware on the back. Hang your rack securely on a wall, load it up with your favorite mugs.

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Cut 5 pallet planks to size to form the top, bottom, sides, and back of the open box. Assemble them into a rectangular box frame using screws and glue if desired.

Step 2: Cut 4 legs at an angle to achieve the splayed stance (about 10–15° outward tilt). Attach each leg to the corners of the base using screws from the inside of the bottom panel.

Step 3: Sand everything smooth, especially the edges and corners. This ensures safety and a polished look.

Step 4: Paint the inside edges or the front rim of the box for a pop of color. Bright red, mustard yellow, or turquoise work great for contrast.
