Do you ever dream of bringing a touch of nature indoors with a unique twist?

This cascading plant chandelier is the perfect fusion of greenery and rustic charm, and the best part? You can make it for under $50!

Not only will it be a striking addition to your home, but it’s also a satisfying DIY project that anyone can tackle with a bit of creativity.

Materials Needed

You’ll need:

  • Driftwood or a rustic branch (free).
  • Twine or simple hanging chains ($5).
  • Glass jars or mason jars (recycled from home or $10 for a set of 6).
  • Battery-operated LED tea lights ($8 for a pack).
  • Trailing plants (small plants cost around $15 total).
  • Hooks or wire ($5).

Step-by-Step Guide to Create Your Cascading Chandelier

Step 1: Select the Perfect Branch

You find a sturdy piece of driftwood or a branch from a nearby outdoor area.

Look for something with character – natural twists and turns will make your chandelier stand out.

Step 2: Set Up the Hanging System

Depending on your aesthetic preference, use either twine or chains.

Then you cut your lengths evenly, ensuring they’ll hold the chandelier securely from the ceiling.

Step 3: Add Cascading Plants

Now you should select trailing plants like ivy or string of pearls. For $15, you can get several small pots of cascading plants that will bring that draping effect to life.

Next, you attach your plants to the branch using hooks or wire, hanging them at varying heights for depth and movement.

Step 4: Light Up the Scene

You grab some recycled glass jars or inexpensive mason jars.

Pop in battery-operated LED tea lights – these give off a lovely, soft glow and stay cool, so they’re safe to use around plants.

Step 5: Hang and Style

Finally, use hooks to secure it in place, making sure it’s balanced. Arrange your plants and jars to create an even, eye-catching display.

Where to Display Your Cascading Chandelier

High ceilings work best, allowing the chandelier to cascade fully.

In addition, you can consider hanging it above your dining table for an intimate dinner vibe or near a reading nook for a cozy, nature-inspired corner.

Care and Maintenance Tips

You should use a spray bottle to mist your plants and maintain their health without disassembling the whole piece. Besides, trim the plants regularly to keep them healthy and full of life.

If the lights get dusty, simply wipe the jars with a damp cloth.
