Turn Your Pet’s Paw Prints into Spooky Halloween Art

Halloween decorations get so much more meaningful when your pet leaves their own pawtograph.

All you need is some washable, non-toxic paint and white cardstock.

Orange paw prints turn into pumpkins with painted faces, purple ones make perfect bats with added wings, and black paw prints become spooky spiders with hand-drawn legs and webs.

Kids love joining in on this project too, making it a wonderful family craft.

Once finished, frame the artwork or use it as festive cards to send to friends who know just how much you adore your pet.

Materials Needed

  • Non-toxic, washable paint (orange, purple, black, green)
  • Thick white cardstock or canvas sheets
  • Fine-tip black marker or pen
  • Small paintbrushes
  • Wet wipes or a damp towel
  • Painter’s tape (optional)

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Place your cardstock on a flat surface and tape it down if needed. Keep your cleaning supplies nearby, you’ll thank yourself later!

Step 2: Paint your pet’s paw gently with non-toxic paint. Then press their paw onto the paper, holding it still for a few seconds before lifting.

Step 3: Turn the prints into spooky designs. Next, add a green stem and black face for pumpkins, wings for bats, or long legs and webs for spiders.

Step 4: Let the artwork dry completely. For extra fun, add your pet’s name and the year to remember when you made it.

Tips:

If your pet isn’t thrilled about paw painting, use a sponge to apply paint instead of dipping their paw.
