You don’t need fancy tools to bring charm into your evenings, just a jar, a light, and a few pressed flowers.
These lantern jars are as simple as they are beautiful, capturing nature’s beauty and turning it into cozy, glowing decor.
They’re perfect for garden parties, quiet nights at home, or as heartfelt handmade gifts.
Once lit, each jar becomes a tiny stained-glass lantern made from the flowers you picked yourself.
Materials Needed
- 2–3 glass jars with lids and handles (1 pint size works well)
- Pressed flowers (10-15 mixed sizes)
- Mod Podge or decoupage glue (8 oz)
- Foam brush or soft paintbrush (1” wide)
- Tea lights or LED fairy lights (battery-operated, safe for jars)
- Optional: Frosted glass spray (400 ml)
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Clean your jars thoroughly, removing any labels and residue. Dry completely.
Step 2: Arrange your pressed flowers on the jar to test placement. Think of layering small blooms with larger ones for balance.
Step 3: Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge, place the flower gently on the jar, and brush over it with another thin coat.
Step 4: Continue until your jar is decorated. Let it dry completely.
Step 5: Place a tea light or fairy lights inside, close the lid, and watch the petals glow against the glass.
Tip:
Frosting the glass before gluing flowers can give a dreamy, diffused lantern effect.
