Imagine gathering around the table with loved ones while above you hangs a hoop of light, candles flickering in unison, greenery cascading softly, fairy lights twinkling like stars.
This project feels like crafting your own little constellation indoors.
Every detail like fresh sprigs, the warm wood, the golden flame works together to create atmosphere.
Moreover, the beauty of this piece lies in its simplicity.
Once you’ve built it, you won’t just see a decoration, you’ll feel its presence, filling your home with calm, warmth, and holiday spirit.
Materials Needed
- 1 wooden embroidery hoop or metal hoop (12”-16” diameter)
- 4-5 pillar candles (varied heights, 4”-8” tall)
- Artificial or fresh eucalyptus sprigs (8-10 pieces)
- Small twigs or dried branches (optional, for rustic touch)
- Battery-operated LED candles (recommended for safety)
- Flameless fairy lights (1 string, 6-8 ft)
- Sturdy wire or hot glue gun
- Fishing line or strong twine
- Wire cutters and scissors
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Begin with your hoop, making sure it’s sturdy enough to hold weight.
If using wood, you tighten the screw securely so it won’t shift when hung.
Step 2: Wrap the hoop lightly with fairy lights, spacing them evenly so the entire ring glows once lit. Leave a little extra length at the top for hanging.
Step 3: Create a small base with wire or a thin wooden tray across the hoop’s lower half.
This is where your candles will sit. If you’re worried about weight, go for LED flameless candles instead of real wax.
Step 4: Arrange eucalyptus sprigs and branches along the base, weaving them through the hoop and securing with floral wire.
You now tuck leaves at different angles for a fuller look.
Step 5: Position your candles in the center of the hoop, tallest in the middle and shorter ones on the sides for balance.
If using LED, secure them with hot glue or strong adhesive.
Step 6: Attach fishing line or twine to the top of the hoop at three points for stability.
Now, hang it securely from a ceiling hook above your dining or living space.
Step 7: Once hung, switch on the fairy lights and candles. Step back and adjust the greenery until the hoop looks full and symmetrical.
Tip:
If you’re using real candles, keep burn time short and never leave them unattended.
For an equally magical but safer glow, stick with high-quality LED candles, they look authentic and last the whole season.
