Imagine the winter night sky coming indoors like stars glowing softly, a crescent moon carrying gifts of pine and golden ribbons.
This celestial hanging tells a story with every detail.
The twine-wrapped shapes add texture, while ornaments sparkle like planets caught in orbit.
It’s not just a decoration, it’s a dreamy scene that invites you to pause, look up, and let the magic of Christmas feel as endless as the night sky.
Materials Needed
- 1 crescent moon frame (wire, cardboard, or wood, 12” tall)
- 4-5 star-shaped frames (4”-6” wide)
- Natural twine or jute (20-30 ft)
- Mini ornaments (gold, bronze, or red)
- Small pinecones and faux holly berries
- Decorative bows (gold or silver)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Scissors
- String or ribbon
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Wrap the crescent moon and star frames completely in twine. Then secure the ends with hot glue so the wrapping stays neat and tight.
Step 2: Arrange mini ornaments, pinecones, and berries in small clusters.
You can also glue them onto one side of the moon and center of each star for balance.
Step 3: Add bows to accent the clusters, creating a mix of shine and texture. Small bells can also be glued on for a festive touch.
Step 4: Cut different lengths of twine (6”-12”) and tie stars to the bottom of the moon so they hang at staggered heights.
Step 5: Tie a loop of ribbon or twine at the top of the moon to hang it securely. Adjust the star placements until they look like a cascading constellation.
Tip:
You should spray a light dusting of glitter over the moon and stars for an extra celestial shimmer.
