Imagine the scent of oranges drifting through your home as you hang this citrus garland.
Each slice tells its own story with bright lemon, rich orange, deep red grapefruit, all strung together like a cheerful melody.
The branch serves as the staff, the greenery as soft notes, and the fruit as colorful beats of joy.
It’s more than holiday décor; it’s a reminder of seasons, harvest, and the simple treasures that make a home feel alive.
Materials Needed
- 1 sturdy branch or driftwood (16”-20” long)
- 15-20 dried citrus slices (mix of orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit)
- 4-5 faux or fresh greenery stems (approx. 10” long each)
- Natural jute twine or cotton string (6-8 ft)
- Small hooks or eye screws
- Hot glue gun (optional)
- Ribbon or cord (2 ft)
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Prepare dried citrus slices by dehydrating them in the oven at 200°F for 2-3 hours until crisp. Let them cool completely.
Step 2: Drill tiny holes near the top of each citrus slice or carefully pierce with a needle. Then thread twine through and knot to keep them in place.
Step 3: Cut 4-5 strands of twine in varying lengths (12”-20”). Next, attach citrus slices to each strand, spacing them evenly for a cascading effect.
Step 4: Tie each citrus strand securely onto the branch. Keep them aligned, but let some hang slightly longer for a natural flow.
Step 5: Add greenery stems at the top of each strand. Either tuck them into the twine knots or glue them to the branch for extra hold.
Step 6: Attach a ribbon or cord to each end of the branch to create a hanger.
You now place it on a wall with good light so the citrus can glow beautifully.
Tip:
You can refresh the scent by dabbing a drop of clove or cinnamon essential oil on the citrus slices before hanging.
