How about bringing the sweetness of gingerbread cookies into your décor with this playful banner?
Each little flag holds a happy gingerbread man, framed by classic red-and-white checks that give it a farmhouse feel.
It’s lightweight, easy to hang, and looks just as cute draped across a tree as it does over a window.
A project that’s equal parts charming and simple, perfect for craft enthusiasts who love details.
Materials Needed
- Cardstock or thin wood banner pieces (5” tall × 3.5” wide, 5-6 pieces)
- Acrylic paint (red & white)
- Mini gingerbread embellishments (plastic, wood, or clay – about 2” tall, 5 pieces)
- Red gingham ribbon (1” wide, 12” per bow, 5 pieces)
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- White twine or jute string (5-6 ft)
- Hole punch (if using cardstock)
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Paint alternating banner pieces red and white. Let them dry completely before assembly.
Step 2: Hot glue one gingerbread embellishment to the center of each panel.
Step 3: Tie gingham ribbon into bows and glue them to the top of each banner piece for a farmhouse touch.
Step 4: Punch two holes at the top of each panel and thread them onto twine. Then space them evenly at 2-3” apart.
Step 5: Hang your garland and adjust bows so they sit neatly.
Tips:
If you don’t have ready-made gingerbread embellishments, you can cut cookie shapes from craft foam or felt for a budget-friendly alternative.
