Imagine a garland that looks like it belongs in both a cozy cabin and a candy shop, that’s the beauty of this project.
The peppermint swirls pop against the earthy kraft paper, and the snowflakes topped with hearts add just the right dose of sweetness.
Also, it’s easy to make, lightweight, and versatile enough to dress up a wall, door, or shelf for the season.
Materials Needed
- Kraft cardstock sheets (8.5”×11”) – 4-5 sheets
- Scissors or craft knife
- Snowflake and circle embellishments (foam stickers, wood cutouts, or paper cutouts, approx. 2.5” diameter)
- Red and white craft paper for peppermint swirls (cut into 2.5” circles)
- Small heart stickers or cutouts (about 1” wide)
- Jute twine (6 ft long)
- Hole punch
- Glue gun or strong craft glue
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Cut kraft cardstock into pennant shapes, about 4” wide × 6” long, with a V-shaped notch at the bottom. Make 6-8 pieces depending on your garland length.
Step 2: Punch two holes at the top corners of each pennant for threading.
Step 3: Assemble your peppermint pieces by layering red and white circles into a swirl pattern. Glue them onto alternating pennants.
Step 4: On the other pennants, attach snowflake embellishments and place a small red heart in the center.
Step 5: Thread all pennants onto a long jute twine, spacing them 3-4 inches apart.
Step 6: Hang across your fireplace, wall, or Christmas buffet for a sweet holiday display.
Tips:
Use glitter cardstock for the snowflakes or metallic paper for the peppermint circles if you want an extra festive sparkle.
