How to Transform Old Jeans into Angel OrnamentsWho knew an old pair of jeans could find new wings? These denim angels are charming, a little quirky, and full of personality.

With gingham bows and tiny wooden faces, they look like they flew straight out of a country Christmas fair.

Crafting them is half the fun, you cut, tie, and stitch with your own rhythm, and before long, a little angel smiles back at you.

They’re a reminder that even scraps can be beautiful when given a purpose.

Materials Needed

  • Old denim fabric (from jeans, approx. 6” × 6” squares per angel)
  • Wooden bead heads (1-1.5” diameter, painted or plain)
  • Gingham ribbon (12” length per angel, ½” wide)
  • Small embellishments (tiny wooden heart, buttons, or beads)
  • Twine or jute string (6-8” length)
  • Hot glue gun or fabric glue
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread (optional)

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Cut your denim into a triangle shape, about 6” tall, to form the angel’s gown. Then fray the edges slightly for a rustic look.

Step 2: Fold the top of the denim triangle slightly and glue or stitch the wooden bead on top as the head.

Step 3: Tie a gingham ribbon just below the bead, forming a neat bow across the front. This will give the angel her collar and wings.

Step 4: Add small embellishments like a wooden heart or button at the bottom corner of the gown for extra detail.

Step 5: Attach a piece of twine to the back of the bead with glue to make a hanging loop.

Step 6: Repeat with more denim scraps, making each angel unique with slightly different ribbons, hearts, or tiny hand-drawn faces.

Tip:

If you want to make them more personal, embroider initials or tiny stars onto the denim gowns, it’s a subtle touch that makes them one-of-a-kind.
