Here’s a craft that looks good enough to eat! This candy corn ornament turns simple cardboard into a bright and cheerful decoration.
It’s lightweight, easy to hang, and a fun reminder of seasonal goodies.
The best part is that you don’t need fancy supplies, just paint, twine, and a little ribbon.
Make a batch of these, and your tree will look like it’s sprinkled with candy.
Materials Needed
- Corrugated cardboard – 1 piece, 5” × 7”
- Acrylic paint – white, orange, and yellow (1 oz each)
- Paintbrush – 1 medium flat brush (1”) and 1 small detail brush
- Twine – 24” length for edging + 8” for hanging loop
- Hot glue gun with 2-3 glue sticks
- Small fabric scrap or burlap ribbon – 1” × 4” strip
- Marker or stencil to trace candy corn shape
- Scissors or craft knife
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Cut a candy corn shape (about 5” tall and 4” wide at the base) from your piece of corrugated cardboard.
Step 2: Paint the bottom third yellow, the middle section orange, and the top tip white. Let each section dry for about 10-15 minutes before moving on.
Step 3: Once dry, glue twine around the outer edges of the candy corn shape for a rustic border.
Step 4: Cut an 8” length of twine, form a loop, and glue it to the back for hanging.
Step 5: Add a bow made from burlap ribbon or fabric scrap to the top.
For extra charm, you can stamp or handwrite a word (like “Yum” or “Sweet”) onto the fabric before attaching.
Step 6: Hold your finished piece up to admire as it’s a playful mix of rustic and festive that’s perfect for fall-to-winter décor.
