If you’ve been searching for a Christmas card idea that’s quick, pretty, and fun to make, this ribbon tree is perfect.
With just a few snips of ribbon and some simple weaving, you’ll create a unique design that your friends and family will treasure.
It’s the kind of project that looks impressive but takes only minutes, making it great for last-minute holiday crafting.
Materials Needed
- Blank cardstock (5” × 7” folded card)
- Green satin ribbon (1/4” wide, about 40” length)
- Gold star sticker or embellishment (1 piece, 1” size)
- Scissors
- Craft glue or double-sided tape
- Ruler and pencil
- Needle or small craft punch (for making holes)
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Take your cardstock and mark small dots in a triangle layout where the ribbon loops will sit, spacing them evenly from top to bottom.
Step 2: Use a needle or punch tool to make small holes at each marked spot.
Step 3: Cut the ribbon into strips of decreasing lengths (start with 5” for the bottom and shorten each by ½” as you move up).
Step 4: Thread or glue each strip into place, forming loops across the card to create the shape of a Christmas tree.
Step 5: Attach a gold star sticker at the top of the tree for the perfect finishing touch.
Step 6: Tie a small bow with leftover ribbon and glue it just under the star for extra charm.
Tip:
You can use metallic or patterned ribbons for a more festive look, or swap the green for red to create a completely different style.
