I can’t help but smile when I see this project, it feels like Christmas magic bottled up in rhinestones.
Creating it is relaxing, almost like piecing together a sparkling puzzle.
You can play with colors, stick with classic red and white, or add a funky twist with pastels or metallics.
Once complete, it makes a memorable handmade gift, especially for someone who loves bold, festive décor.
Materials Needed
- Canvas board or thick white cardstock (A4 or 8”×10” size)
- Rhinestones in assorted sizes (approx. 200-250 pieces, red and white)
- Pearls and beads (30-40 pieces, mixed sizes)
- Fine glitter (1 small jar, gold and silver)
- Craft glue or hot glue gun
- Santa hat outline template (printable or hand-drawn)
- Small paintbrush
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Lightly trace or print a Santa hat outline onto your canvas or cardstock.
Step 2: Apply glue section by section, starting at the base of the hat. Then sprinkle fine glitter for a shimmery background before placing rhinestones.
Step 3: Add larger rhinestones and pearls first to anchor the design, then fill in gaps with smaller stones and beads.
Step 4: Outline the hat with slightly larger gems to give it a defined and bold edge.
Step 5: Decorate the fluffy brim and pom-pom of the hat with pearls, white rhinestones, and touches of gold glitter.
Step 6: Let it dry completely (at least 2-3 hours) before framing or wrapping it as a gift.
Tip:
If you want an extra polished look, spray a clear sealant over the finished piece to lock in the sparkle.
