How to Make a Mini Christmas Tree with Pipe CleanersI love how this project instantly takes me back to childhood crafts, but with a grown-up charm.

Holding this little tree feels like cradling a pocket-sized forest of Christmas magic.

With just a handful of supplies, you can craft something that looks thoughtful and festive.

Adding miniature ornaments, bows, and a rustic wooden base makes it gift-ready without the need for wrapping.

Materials Needed

  • 20-25 green pipe cleaners (12” long each)
  • Brown pipe cleaners (3-4 pieces)
  • Wood slice base (approx. 4” diameter)
  • Small beads, pearls, or charms
  • Mini red bow or ribbon (1 piece, 3” wide)
  • Hot glue gun and sticks
  • Scissors or wire cutters

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Start by twisting green pipe cleaners into loops, forming layered branches. Then trim some shorter for the top and leave others longer for the base.

Step 2: Twist the brown pipe cleaners tightly together to form a sturdy trunk.

Next, attach the green loops around the trunk, starting from the bottom and working upward in layers.

Step 3: Glue the finished tree to the wood slice base, holding it firmly until secure.

Step 4: Decorate the branches with beads, pearls, or charms by gluing or threading them onto the pipe cleaners.

Step 5: Top the tree with a bow or mini ornament for a festive finish.

Step 6: Adjust the branches so they fan out naturally and look like a miniature evergreen.

Tip:

You can spray a little glitter paint for a frosted effect or even add tiny battery fairy lights for extra sparkle.
