Every year I look for small, handmade gifts that feel more heartfelt than store-bought ones.
Tree-shaped candles became my favorite because they’re not only decorative, but they also carry the fragrance of the season such as pine, cinnamon, or vanilla.
When wrapped with a rustic bow and berry accents, they look like tiny holiday treasures, ready to bring warmth into someone’s home.
Materials Needed
- Tree-shaped silicone candle mold (5-7 inch size)
- 1 lb (450 g) soy or beeswax flakes
- 6-8 cotton candle wicks (6 inch)
- Fragrance oil (1 oz pine, cinnamon, or vanilla)
- Green candle dye (optional)
- Pouring pot or heatproof jug
- Cellophane wrap (10 × 14 inch bags)
- Burlap ribbon, twine, or jute
- Faux berries and greenery sprigs
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Melt the wax in a double boiler or heatproof jug until smooth.
Step 2: Stir in fragrance oil and dye (if using). A pine scent with a soft green tint works beautifully for these candles.
Step 3: Thread your wick through the mold, securing it at the top with a wick holder or pencil.
Step 4: Slowly pour the melted wax into the tree mold and let it set completely (about 4–6 hours).
Step 5: Remove the candle from the mold, trimming the wick to about ½ inch.
Step 6: Wrap the candle in clear cellophane, tie with burlap ribbon, and tuck in sprigs of greenery and red berries for that finished Christmas gift look.
Note:
You can make a whole batch in different scents such as pine for freshness, cinnamon for warmth, or vanilla for sweetness and gift them as a set.
