How to Style Mini Christmas Trees with Stars and CandlesImagine gathering outside on a crisp December evening, where tiny evergreens stand tall like little guardians of the season.

Each one carries a star, glowing quietly above mossy ground sprinkled with pinecones.

Candles flicker gently nearby, their flames cradled in twine, echoing the simplicity of nature’s winter story.

This isn’t just decor, it’s an atmosphere, a reminder of calm and warmth in the midst of holiday hustle.

Materials Needed

  • 2–3 small evergreen saplings (12-24” tall)
  • Gray or neutral-toned planters (8-10” wide)
  • 2 hanging star ornaments (white or silver, about 4-6”)
  • Wooden star cutouts (1 large, 1 medium)
  • Black pillar candles (3-4, 4-6” tall)
  • Twine or rustic cord (2-3 ft)
  • Fresh moss (enough to cover a 16-18” round tray)
  • 6-8 pinecones (natural or frosted)
  • Round serving tray or shallow planter base (16-18” diameter)

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Place your evergreens into the gray planters, filling any gaps with soil or floral foam to hold them upright.

Next, add a layer of moss on top for a soft, forest-like base.

Step 2: Attach the star ornaments to the tops of your trees with twine, letting them dangle slightly for a natural look.

Step 3: Position the planters on your tray, then arrange wooden star cutouts at the front to anchor the display visually.

Step 4: Wrap twine around each black pillar candle for a rustic touch, and set them securely on the moss base.

If using real candles outdoors, place them in glass holders for safety; otherwise, LED candles work beautifully.

Step 5: Fill remaining gaps with pinecones, scattering them casually around the moss to create a woodland effect.

Note:

You can bring this indoors as a dining table centerpiece. Just switch real candles for flameless LED ones to keep it safe and cozy.
