Imagine the hush of winter evening as this rustic crate greets your guests with flickering candlelight and frosted greens.
The rough wood contrasts beautifully with the soft bows, while pinecones and winter berries peek out as though they were freshly gathered from the forest.
Plus, it’s a little piece of Christmas wonder brought right to your doorstep.
Materials Needed
- 1 medium wooden crate (approx. 18”-24” wide)
- Fresh or faux evergreens (cedar, pine, fir – 25-30 stems)
- 4-5 burlap ribbon bows (8”–10” wide)
- 6-8 pinecones (frosted with snow spray)
- Artificial berries or berry picks (optional, 5-6 stems)
- 3-5 LED flameless candles (various heights, 6”-10”)
- Floral foam or soil
- Battery-operated fairy lights (1 strand)
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Place floral foam or soil inside the crate to help hold your greenery.
Step 2: Start by arranging the tallest evergreen stems toward the back for depth.
Step 3: Layer shorter branches across the front and sides, letting them cascade naturally over the crate edges.
Step 4: Tuck in pinecones and berry sprigs between the greenery, spacing them evenly.
Step 5: Attach burlap bows for a rustic, warm finish. Place them in clusters to balance the arrangement.
Step 6: Wrap fairy lights around the branches, then place LED candles inside and around the crate for a cozy glow.
Step 7: Finish the look with a few frosted pinecones placed at the base for extra detail.
Note:
This planter looks stunning during the day but truly comes alive at dusk when the candles and lights cast their glow.
