Picture you walk up your front path and are greeted by a pair of glowing winter forests in miniature.
Poinsettias burst like red flames against a bed of pine, sparkling ornaments mimic snow-kissed branches, and the evergreens reach upward like guardians of the season.
Moreover, these planters don’t just decorate your entryway, they crown it with holiday grandeur.
Materials Needed
- 2-3 tall outdoor planters (20-30” height)
- Mini evergreen trees or topiary (about 3-4 feet tall each)
- Fresh pine, cedar, or fir branches for filler
- Artificial or real poinsettias (4-6 large blooms per planter)
- Berry picks or fresh holly branches (10-12 sprigs)
- Pinecones (8-10 medium size)
- Frosted ornaments or glittery accents (6-8 per planter)
- Warm white string lights (battery-operated or outdoor-safe, 50-100 lights per planter)
- Soil or floral foam
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Place your evergreen tree or topiary in the center of each tall planter. Then anchor it securely with soil or floral foam so it stands upright.
Step 2: Add fresh pine or cedar branches around the base, letting them spill over the edges for fullness. This creates the lush green background.
Step 3: Tuck poinsettias evenly around the greenery, spacing them so their red blooms pop vividly against the foliage.
Step 4: Insert berry picks and holly sprigs for bursts of color and texture, followed by pinecones for a rustic touch.
Step 5: Place frosted ornaments or glittery accents throughout, mixing sizes to add sparkle and depth.
Step 6: Wrap string lights loosely around the tree and greenery. Hide the battery pack inside the planter base or run outdoor-safe wiring discreetly.
Step 7: Step back and adjust the arrangement, making sure the planters look balanced and symmetrical on both sides of the entryway.
Note:
For extra drama, use planters in slightly different heights and cluster them together.
The staggered effect adds layers and makes your entrance feel even more inviting.
