How to Turn a Wooden Wagon into a Christmas ShowstopperIf you have an old wagon, this is the perfect project to breathe new life into it.

By filling it with faux gifts and garlands, you create a stunning focal point that works beautifully in front yards, driveways, or even at community events.

It’s simple, affordable, and highly customizable, you can scale the presents and decorations depending on your space.

Materials Needed

  • 1 wooden wagon or cart (5-6 ft long works best)
  • 6-8 cardboard boxes (varied sizes: 12”×12” up to 24”×18”)
  • Brown craft paper or wrapping paper (enough to cover all boxes)
  • 6-8 wide red ribbons (3” width, 6-8 ft each)
  • 4-6 large decorative bows (10”-12” wide)
  • 1 artificial garland (9 ft length, pre-lit optional)
  • Optional: Pinecones, burlap fabric, or faux greenery

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Position the wagon in a visible spot in your yard. Make sure it’s stable on level ground.

Step 2: Wrap the cardboard boxes in craft or wrapping paper to resemble giant gifts. Then secure with tape so they hold up outdoors.

Step 3: Tie each gift with ribbon, crossing it over the box and finishing with a bow on top. You can add oversized bows for extra drama.

Step 4: Arrange the wrapped gifts inside the wagon. Now, [lace larger boxes at the back and smaller ones toward the front to create balance.

Step 5: Drape the garland along the wagon’s sides, securing with zip ties or hooks. Then tuck in pinecones or greenery for more texture.

Step 6: Step back and adjust until the wagon feels full and inviting. Also, add extra bows or ornaments if you’d like a more festive touch.
