How to Craft Adorable Okra Snowman Ornaments for Winter Cheer

From the quiet fields comes a winter tale, told through okra pods transformed into snowmen.

Each pod, painted white and adorned with a hat, sways like a figure in a frosty dream, its scarf fluttering with the promise of a snowy adventure.

Crafting these ornaments is like weaving a story of winter’s magic, where nature and holiday spirit dance together.

Materials Needed

  • 5-10 dried okra pods (long, straight, and fully dried)
  • White acrylic paint
  • Small black top hats (craft store or handmade with felt)
  • Red and black plaid fabric scraps
  • Small wooden beads or corks
  • Hot glue gun or eco-friendly craft glue
  • Red yarn or twine (6-8 inches per ornament)
  • Small paintbrushes and orange paint
  • Scissors

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Gather your dried okra pods and give them a base coat of white paint to transform them into snowy figures.

Let them dry completely on a covered surface, patience makes perfect snowmen!

Step 2: Paint a simple face near the top of each pod including two black dots for eyes and a small orange triangle for a carrot nose.

Step 3: Glue a tiny black top hat to the top of each pod, securing it with hot glue. Then adjust the angle so it sits jauntily, like a snowman caught in a winter breeze.

Step 4: Cut small strips of plaid fabric for scarves, about 4-5 inches long, and tie or glue them loosely around the pod’s neck for a cozy look.

Step 5: Attach a wooden bead or cork as a nose with glue, painting it orange if needed. Next, add a dab of glue to secure it firmly.

Step 6: Finally, tie a loop of red yarn or twine around the top for hanging, or place them in a festive bowl.

Tips:

I made these with my niece last winter, and she loved tying the scarves Mix up hat styles or add tiny buttons with paint for variety.

You can also use pods from your garden or a local source, and opt for natural fabrics to keep the earth-friendly vibe going strong.
