Imagine four cats sitting quietly in the corner watching you with big, curious eyes. These sewn cushions don’t just fill space; they create character.
Each cat can have its own personality based on the fabric you choose such as striped, spotted, bold, or soft.
Once finished, they feel like silent companions waiting to share your cozy evening.
Materials Needed
- Fabric of your choice (cotton, linen, or canvas) – 2 pieces each about 12”×18” for one cat
- Felt sheets for eyes (4”×4” squares per cat)
- 2 buttons for pupils (1”-1.5” diameter)
- Polyester stuffing (about 150-200g per cushion_
- Paper for making the cat template (about 12” tall × 6” wide)
- Fabric scissors
- Pins or clips
- Sewing machine or needle & strong thread
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Draw a simple cat template on paper: a tall rectangle with two triangle ears at the top. Then cut it out to use as your guide.
Step 2: Place your template on the fabric, trace it twice (front and back), and cut.
Step 3: Pin the two fabric pieces together, right sides facing inward. Sew around the edge, leaving a 3” opening at the bottom. Turn right side out.
Step 4: Stuff the body with polyester filling until it feels firm but soft. You need to pay attention to the ears, use a pencil to push stuffing neatly into the tips.
Step 5: Hand-stitch the bottom opening closed.
Step 6: Cut out two felt circles (about 3” diameter each) for the eyes. Next, sew them onto the front, then attach buttons at the center as pupils.
Step 7: Place your finished cat cushion against a wall, bed, or door. You can make different colors for variety, it’s fun to line them up like a little gang of watchful cats!
Tips: For extra charm, you can add whiskers with embroidery thread or stitch a small smile below the eyes.
