Every lamp tells a story, but this one literally speaks in panels. The glow softens the bold lines of the art, turning action scenes into a moving mural of light.
It feels as though your room has become part of the adventure, heroes watching over you as you read, villains frozen in their schemes while the light keeps them at bay.
It’s not just a lamp anymore, it’s a beacon of imagination flickering right beside your favorite chair.
Materials Needed
- 1 plain lampshade (10”-14” diameter works beautifully)
- Comic book pages (trimmed to panels, approx. 6-8 full sheets)
- Mod Podge (matte or glossy finish, 8 oz)
- Foam brush or sponge applicator
- Craft scissors
- Optional: black ribbon (½” wide)
- Wax paper or plastic sheet
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Remove the lampshade from the base and place it on your protected work surface.
Then cut your comic pages into panels or larger strips that fit the shade’s height.
Step 2: Brush a thin coat of Mod Podge on the lampshade where your first panel will sit.
You can place the comic piece carefully, pressing out any air bubbles with your fingers.
Step 3: Continue covering the shade panel by panel, slightly overlapping edges so no gaps show. Work slowly around the circle until it’s completely wrapped.
Step 4: Once all pieces are in place, brush a generous sealing coat of Mod Podge over the entire surface. Allow it to dry fully, this layer gives it a protective finish and a slight sheen.
Step 5: (Optional) For a polished look, glue a strip of black ribbon around the top and bottom rim of the shade. This frames the comic art beautifully.
Tips:
I found the magic happens when the light finally shines through. Some panels glow brighter, while others fade softly, making the whole thing feel alive.
If your lamp sits in a cozy corner, this project will transform it into a storytelling spotlight, perfect for unwinding with your own stack of comics.
