Step-by-step Guide to Crafting a Memory Wreath

Think of this wreath as a doorway into your family’s history. Every photo, framed and carefully arranged, feels like a bead in a necklace of stories

. Together, they weave a continuous loop of laughter, milestones, and togetherness.

Besides, hanging this wreath feels like inviting your loved ones into the room, keeping them close in spirit even when they’re far away. It’s less about decoration and more about celebration.

Materials Needed

  • 1 grapevine wreath base (14-18” diameter)
  • 15-20 mini photo frames (2×3” or similar size)
  • Printed family photos, trimmed to fit the frames
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Burlap ribbon (2-3” wide, about 3 feet long)
  • Floral wire or twine (optional)

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Start by printing and trimming your chosen family photos to fit the mini frames.

You can mnix portraits and candid shots for a wreath that feels lively and balanced. Insert each photo securely into the frames.

Step 2: Position your frames around the grapevine wreath. Play with the arrangement until it feels natural, alternating portrait and landscape orientations for visual interest.

Step 3: Once satisfied with the layout, use a hot glue gun to attach the frames to the wreath base. If some frames feel loose, secure them further with floral wire tucked behind the grapevine.

Step 4: Tie a large bow from burlap ribbon and attach it at the top of the wreath using glue or wire. The bow adds a rustic, welcoming finish.

Step 5: Hang your wreath in a meaningful spot such as on a door, wall, or even above a mantel. It instantly becomes a warm centerpiece that honors family connections.

Notes: To give your wreath a seasonal touch, you can weave in faux greenery, flowers, or even small ornaments alongside the frames.

I’ve found that keeping the photos in black and white creates a timeless look, while color photos add vibrancy and playfulness.
