Materials

  • Dry macaroni pasta (about 30–40 pieces per fish)
  • Cardboard or foam sheet (8x10 inches)
  • Acrylic paint (3–4 colors, 50ml each)
  • Paintbrushes (small and medium sizes)
  • Googly eyes (1 per fish)
  • Pencil and scissors
  • Craft glue (1 small bottle)

Instructions

  • Draw a fish shape on the cardboard and carefully cut it out. If crafting with younger kids, prepare the shapes in advance.
  • Paint the fish base in a bright color, like blue or purple, and let it dry completely.
  • While waiting, paint the macaroni in a few different colors, think of them as the fish’s colorful scales. Let the pasta dry for about 15 minutes.
  • Arrange the macaroni on the fish’s body in neat rows to create a scale effect. Once you’re happy with the pattern, glue each piece in place.
  • Add a googly eye and a small pasta piece for the mouth. Let everything dry before displaying your fish proudly on the wall or refrigerator.
