Materials

  • Assorted pasta shapes (about 25–30 pieces: bowties, wheels, macaroni, penne)
  • Cardboard circles (6-inch diameter)
  • Non-toxic acrylic or poster paints (6–8 colors)
  • Small paintbrushes (2–3 different sizes)
  • Paper plate or palette for mixing colors
  • Protective table cover or newspaper sheet
  • Craft glue (1 small bottle)

Instructions

  • Cut out a 6-inch circle from sturdy cardboard to form your base. You can also use recycled cereal boxes if you prefer a lightweight option.
  • Lay out different pasta shapes on the cardboard, experimenting with patterns. Try spirals, flowers, or geometric rows, this is your creative moment.
  • Once you’re happy with the arrangement, lift each pasta piece slightly and apply glue underneath. Then press gently to secure and let the design dry completely (about 30 minutes).
  • After it’s dry, begin painting. Use smaller brushes for tiny shapes and mix colors for shading or ombre effects.
  • When ready, you can frame it, hang it, or simply admire the creativity that a handful of pasta inspired.
