Materials

  • Cardboard sheet (9×12 inches)
  • Acrylic paints – yellow, brown, and green (30ml each)
  • Paintbrushes (2 sizes)
  • Real sunflower seeds (2 tbsp)
  • Green tissue paper or crepe paper for leaves (2 pieces, 3×4 inches)
  • Craft glue (1 bottle)
  • Penne pasta (about 60 pieces)

Instructions

  • Draw a large sunflower on the cardboard, start with a circle for the center and add a long stem with two leaves.
  • Paint the center of the flower brown, the petals area yellow, and the stem green. Let it dry completely.
  • Paint all the penne pasta pieces bright yellow and set aside to dry. These will form the sunflower petals.
  • Glue the pasta pieces around the circle, arranging them closely in layers for a full, realistic look.
  • Fill the brown center with sunflower seeds, gluing them securely in random patterns for texture.
  • Twist strips of green tissue paper to make the stem and shape the leaves before gluing them in place.
