Flatten each coffee filter and smooth out any creases. Then fold it back and forth in narrow accordion-style pleats, about ½ inch wide, until the entire filter is folded.
Take two folded filters including one for the upper wings and a slightly smaller one for the lower wings and layer them together so they form a wide X shape.
Clip the center with the wooden clothespin, making sure both sets of wings spread evenly on each side. This forms the butterfly’s body.
Brush a thin layer of glue along the edges and lightly sprinkle glitter over it. Next, shake off the excess and let it dry for about 10–15 minutes.
Tie the twine around the top of the clothespin to create antennae. Add a tiny dab of glue to secure the knot, then press a bead or gem at the top for a sparkling accent.
Gently fan out the wings and shape them until you’re happy with the look. You can hang them with invisible thread, clip them to gifts, or scatter them across a table for a charming handmade touch.
