Materials

  • 4–6 white coffee filters (size 8–12 cup)
  • Washable markers or watercolor paints in assorted colors
  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Battery-operated tea lights or mini LED candles
  • Plastic or paper cups (to shape the ghost bodies)
  • Black marker or black paper for eyes and mouths
  • Scissors and glue

Instructions

  • Flatten each coffee filter and decorate with bright Halloween shades such as orange, purple, green, and blue look amazing.
  • Lightly spray the filters with water so the colors blend softly, then let them dry completely.
  • Once dry, drape each filter over an upside-down cup to form the ghost’s shape. You can layer two filters for a fuller look.
  • Cut out small black ovals or circles for the eyes and mouth, or draw them directly on with a marker. Glue them in place.
  • Lift the ghost gently and place it over a battery-operated tea light. The glow will shine through the paper, creating a magical, multicolored effect.
  • Arrange your glowing ghosts on a table with tiny pumpkins or spider props, they’ll cast a cozy, spooky light that’s perfect for Halloween night.
