Materials

  • 1 small grapevine or willow wreath (around 6 inches in diameter)
  • 4-5 dried orange slices
  • 3 cinnamon sticks (4 inches long)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Jute twine (12 inches or more for hanging and tying)
  • Optional: dried flowers, star anise, pinecones, or acorns for decoration

Instructions

  • Slice your oranges into thin rounds (about ¼ inch thick) and bake them at 200°F (93°C) for 2-3 hours, turning halfway through until completely dried. Let them cool before use.
  • Lay out your orange slices along one side of the wreath, slightly overlapping them to form a layered look. Adjust their placement until you’re happy with the design.
  • Use a hot glue gun to attach each orange slice firmly to the wreath base. Then press gently and hold for a few seconds to make sure they stick well.
  • Tie three cinnamon sticks together with a small piece of jute twine, making a neat bow in the center. Glue the bundle to the bottom or side of the wreath for balance.
  • Decorate with small extras such as star anise, dried flowers, or acorns to fill in any gaps and add texture.
  • Cut a piece of jute twine, loop it through the top of the wreath, and tie a knot to create a hanger.
  • Check your wreath for any loose elements and adjust as needed for an even look.
